MARITAL STATUS Married. Four Children. Spouse: Mrs Miwako Bradshaw - PreK/K/EYFS Teacher

Originally from the UK, I have been living and working in Asia with my wife and children for over a decade, and have a rich background in international teaching, training and entrepreneurship in both schools and the health, science and manufacturing sectors. I am currently a year 4 (grade 3) primary school teacher and can also teach all KS1/2 age groups and both primary science and secondary biology subjects. I am extremely passionate about fostering English literacy, especially reading skills amongst ELLs and enriching learning using both music and drama. I also love to play and coach multiple sports.

Through my enriching experiences of teaching and doing business both publicly and privately abroad, I have gained vast amounts of intercultural competence and a broad range of leadership, coaching, project management, marketing and business development skills, which I use to continually improve the depth, variety and effectiveness of my teaching and enhance and enrich both my classroom and school environment. I also host and produce a regular podcast show called China Jedi where I interview a diverse range of teachers and educational thought leaders, showcasing their knowledge, experiences and best practices.

My mission is to continue to apply my knowledge, creative skills and entrepreneurial teaching experiences to serve, inspire, instruct and teach students of all ages from all walks of life.

Educational Philosophy

It is my belief that we are all here to create. Education is a part of life, not preparation for it. Through creating, experiencing, achieving, and failing with a good sense of humour, comes essential learning through action. Enthusiasm, adaptability and flexibility are key values. In every lesson that I teach, I try to bring the physical, mental and emotional aspects into the classroom, making real-world connections wherever possible and incorporating interdisciplinary activities to create well-rounded learners.

Through my experiences of education and entrepreneurship and the use of a holistic student centered approach, I believe that students at every age and in every subject benefit immensely from learning and developing the 21st century skills of creativity, critical thinking, communication and collaboration, which they will use to prosper in their relationships, career and life as a whole. These important skills will make them better equipped to face an exciting, ever changing and complicated world.

More than ever, we need passionate, dedicated and reflective teachers that challenge and engage their students and guide them with emotional intelligence. Teachers that care for a pupils wellbeing as much as their academic progress and stay open minded to integrating new technology into the classroom and school environment to create exciting, effective, differentiated and personalized instructional strategies for every unique learner. Students of today need teachers of today and my goal is to always be one of them.

Chris really lights up a room when he walks in. He is very enthusiastic about the subject matter, and is always well-prepared with a multi-faceted lesson. He has an excellent rapport with the students, and is able to make instant connections with them.It is obvious that Chris cares about the children as human beings as well as academically, and he definitely focuses on the “whole child” in his interactions with the students.
