World-renowned Tai Chi expert, Dr Paula Lam (founder of the Tai Chi For Health Institute) visited our hospital this week to give a lecture on his life’s story and the health benefits of practicing the ancient Chinese art.
It was a great opportunity for people living in Zhuhai (especially expats) to get a better understanding of how tai chi works, the fundamental philosophy that it is based upon and of course to learn a few basic moves to take home and practice. Following the great turnout we hope that we will be able to form a sizeable tai chi community in Zhuhai and run regular lessons and training in English.
Dr Paul Lam, a Sydney family physician and lecturer at the University of New South Wales is a world leader in the field of tai chi for health improvement. He has participated in many research projects on the subject of tai chi’s health benefits, has over twenty scientific papers published at peer reviewed journals.
Dr Lam has composed several Tai Chi for Health programs recommended by the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (www.cdc.gov), and are supported by the Health dept NSW, SA, Vic, Tas, WA, NT, National government of NZ (ACC) and other countries around the world.
