Sugar Food Addiction Test

Nutritional researcher Dr. Joel Fuhrman says that sugar addiction is just as serious as being hooked on cocaine: “Low-nutrient foods rich in sugar, oils, white flour and salt have similar biochemical effects in the brain as addictive drugs,” he tells Metro. “Because they tend to be especially palatable, these foods activate reward pathways in the brain and produce toxic withdrawal symptoms often misinterpreted as hunger, driving us to eat even more.”

Are you a sugar food addict? Take the below tests to find out:

1) The Chocolate Chip Cookie Test:

  • Imagine that you are alone
  • You come home and someone has been baking in your house
  • There is a plate of warm chocolate chip cookies on the counter
  • What kind of reaction would you have?
  • Do your molecules light up at even the idea of warm chocolate chip cookies? Or perhaps warm scones? Or ice cream?
  • Perhaps you would not actually eat them, but the crucial part is the wanting to.
  • People who are not sugar addicts would not care about the cookies.

2) Sugar Kills Food Addiction Quiz

3) Yale Food Addiction Scale
